Redemption

We now have a UK release date for the the audio edition of Jussi Adler-Olsen’s third novel in the best selling Department Q crime series.

While the US audio edition read by Graeme Malcolm was released under the title A Conspiracy of Faith on May 21 2013, the UK edition, read by Steven Pacey, will be released under the title Redemption on 18 July 2013. It will be available at audible.co.uk and iTunes.

Redemption Cover

Two boys, brothers, wake tied and bound in a boathouse by the sea. Their kidnapper has gone, but soon he will return. Their bonds are inescapable. But there is a bottle and tar to seal it. Paper and a splinter for writing; blood for ink. A message begging for help.

In Copenhagen’s cold cases division Carl Mørck has received a bottle. It holds an old and decayed message, written in blood. It is a cry for help from two boys. Is it real? Who are they and why weren’t they reported missing? Can they possibly still be alive?

Full Casting for Relative Values Announced

Full casting was announced today for the Theatre Royal Bath’s production of Noel Coward’s Relative Values, including Steven Pacey’s involvement.

Steven will play Peter Ingleton, the Countess of Marshwood’s witty and sophisticated nephew.

In play text, Peter Ingleton is introduced early in Act I, and is described as “anywhere between thirty-five and fifty. He is impeccably dressed and has a quizzical gleam in his eye.”

Relative Values, A Light Comedy in Three Acts by Noel Coward,
Heinemann, London, 1952, page 8.

Colin Firth played the role on film in 2000, and described the character as, “Peter basically spends his time hanging around the place. He’s a harmless mischief-maker who enjoys the crisis that’s unfolding and he treats it all as a bit of a game.”

Colin Firth, 23 August, 2000. Reference.

Peter Ingleton’s voyeur-like role is thought by some to be based on the character of Noel Coward.

Reference.

Relative Values

Steven Pacey begins rehearsals for a new production today! It is one of Noël Coward’s most successful comedies, Relative Values. The play is set in the early 1950s, and is an uproarious culture clash between the glittering world of Hollywood and the stiff upper lip of the English aristocracy.

Initially, the play will run at the Theatre Royal, Bath, from 12 – 29 June, 2013.

There is consternation at Marshwood House when the young Earl announces he is to marry a Hollywood film actress…but the family is well and truly flummoxed when it comes to light that the starlet’s sister is none other than Moxie, the Earl’s mother’s maid. In an attempt to cope with this deeply embarrassing situation, Moxie is dressed up in her ladyship’s cast-offs as the aristocratic family endeavours to pass her off as one of their own.

Text from Theatre Royal, Bath

Relative Values will be directed by Trevor Nunn, and other cast includes: Patricia Hodge, Caroline Quentin and Rory Bremner.

Dark Matters – Salvation by Starvation

Dark Matters

Following up on the announcement of February 11, 2013: Steven Pacey actually appeared in another episode of the popular science documentary series, Dark Matters: Twisted but True. It didn’t come to our attention because Steven is wrongly credited as ‘Stephen’ Pacey in the episode.

In Salvation by Starvation, Steven plays Dimitriy, in an episode about Nikolai Vavilov, a Russian botanist who slowly starved while protecting a precious seed bank from the Nazis during World War II.

is one of three stories in Series 3, Episode 2 (labelled Series 2, Episode 9 elsewhere), first broadcast on the US Discovery Network’s Science Channel last year (November 28, 2012).

The other two investigations in this 44 minute episode are: Unabomber, which discusses a psychological experiment that Ted Kaczynski (aka the Unabomber) underwent during his teenage years, and Get the Lead Out about leaded-gasoline poisonings.

For US viewers only, the single episode is available as a digital download or live streaming, or on Youtube. DVD copies are not currently available.
